The texts discussed in this volume were inscribed on the walls of the Temple of Edfu in Upper Egypt in the Ptolemaic period. This lexikon studies more than 4,000 words, examining the etymology of each word, the history of its usage and the context and changing meanings of the words. A unique and highly useful tool, the first of its kind in English, studying the individual words and their context, use and composition.
