Английският майор с шведско потекло Робърт Гренвил Гайер-Андерсон (1881-1945) служи дълги години в армията и администрацията на Египет. Освен като успешен държавен служител, той е известен и като страстен колекционер на древноегипетски антики. Основната част от колекцията му е дарена на египетското правителство и днес е изложена в музея Гайер-Андерсон (Бейт ел Критлия) в Кайро. Част от образците обаче са подарени на европейски музеи. Малко известен факт е, че значима част от този фонд е дарена на Египетския музей в шведската столица Стокхолм - днес Меделхавсмузет - Музей на средиземноморските и близкоизточни култури. Robert Grenvill Gayer-Anderson (1881-1945) joined Royal Army Medical Corps in 1904 and was later transferred to the Egyptian Army in 1907. He was then promoted to become a Major in 1914 and during the same year, he became Assistant Adjutant-General for recruiting in the Egyptian Army. In 1919, he retired from the army to become the Senior Inspector in the Egyptian Ministry of the Interior, and he later became the Oriental Secretary to the British Residency in Cairo. He retired in 1924 but continued to live in Egypt, expanding his interests in Egyptology and Oriental Studies. He is well known not only as a successfull administrator, but as an addicted colectioneer of Egyptian antiquities. A significant part of his Ancient Egypian collection is exhibited in Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm. The merit for that is so of the former Museum curator - Pehr Lung (1881-1937).
