Сър Ърнест Алфред Уолис Бъдж (1857-1934) е един от най-плодовитите автори областта на египтологията през втората половина на XIX и първата половина на XX в. Макар и извънбрачно дете, той успява да впечатли околните с дарбата си за езици още в ранна юношеска възраст, като с помощта на знаковия министър-председател Уилям Гладстон (1809-1898) успешно завършва университета в Кеймбридж и през 1883 г. постъпва на работа в Британския Музей. През 1886-1891 е на обичайната за млади служители полева работа в Египет и Ирак, а през 1894 е назначен за главен уредник (keeper) на Египетската секция в музея като остава на този пост до 1924 г., а през 1920 г. е удостоен с рицарско звание. Книгите му за  Древен Египет са изключително много на брой, както третират най-различни аспекти на тази цивилизация: история, литература, религия, бит, архитектура, изкуство, дори медицина.
