A un moment donné de l'évolution d'une discipline, toute communauté scientifique ressent la nécessité de faire le point pour dégager les axes prioritaires en vue de la poursuite des recherches et veiller à une certaine coordination. Cet objectif ambitieux était celui du colloque organisé par le CNRS dans le cadre du 2e Congrès Internationa l des Egyptologues qui s'est tenu à Grenoble, du 10 au 15 septembre 1979.
180 communications y témoignèrent de l'intérêt suscité par ce colloque et montrent
la vitalité actuelle des études égyptologiques à travers le monde.
Le premier volume comprend les textes de quarante-sept communications qui fu-
rent présen tées dans les trois premiers thèmes directeurs: Diachronie et synchronie dans la langue égyptienne, «Philosophie» religieuse du temple égyptien, Prospection archéologique et géographie histo riqu e du Delta et de la Moyenne Égypte, ainsi que le rapport du groupe des études démotiques.
Le second volume contient les quarante-sept contributions qui furent présentées dans les quatre autres th èmes : Textes des Pyramides et Textes des Sarcophages, Système graphique ptolémaïque, Administration dans l'Ëgypte pharaonique et Expérience amarnienne.

At a certain stage in the evolution of a discipline , every scientific community feeis the need to take stock in order to bring out priorities with a view to future research, and ensure a degree of coordination. This ambitious goal was that of the colloquium organized by the CNRS as part of the 2nd International Congress of Egyptologists which took place at Grenoble from the 10th to the l5th september 1979. The 180 communications testified to the interest aroused by this colloquium, and showed the current vitality of egyptological studies throughout the world.
The first volume contains the text of forty-seven communications which were presen ted under the first three of th e seven «Ieading thernes» (around which the Congress was organized): Diachrony and Synchrony in th e Egyptian Language, The Religious «Philosophy» of the Egyptian Temple, Archaeological Survey and Historical Geography of the Delta and Middle Egypt, together with the report of the Demotic Studies group.
The second volume con tain s also the text of forty-seven communications which were presented under the four other themes : Pyramid Texts and Coffin Texts, Ptolemaic epigraphic System , Administration in Pharaonic Egypt and Amarnian Experience.
